Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels - VI Peel
Overview
Vitality Institute’s chemical peel, also known as the VI Peel, is a medical-grade chemical peel that is designed to rejuvenate the skin and treat a variety of skin concerns. This peel uses a unique blend of ingredients that work together to exfoliate, brighten, and improve the overall health of the skin.
The VI Peel contains a combination of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, retinoic acid, phenol, and vitamin C. These ingredients work together to improve the skin’s texture, tone, and clarity. TCA and phenol are powerful exfoliants that remove dead skin cells, while salicylic acid and retinoic acid unclog pores and stimulate collagen production. Vitamin C helps to brighten the skin and protect it from environmental damage.
Six uniquely formulated treatments:
- VI Peel Precision Plus– Sun Damage, Melasma, UV-Induced Pigmentation, Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
- VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus– Excessive Oil, Acne with Hyperpigmentation, Acne Scarring, Adult Acne

Pre-Treatment:
- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before the treatment.
- Avoid any skin treatments that can cause skin irritation or sensitivity, such as waxing or exfoliating, for at least one week before the treatment.
- Let your skincare professional know about any skin conditions, allergies, or medications you are taking.
Post-Treatment:
- Follow the post-treatment instructions provided by your skincare professional carefully.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
- Do not pick or scratch at the treated area, as this can cause scarring or discoloration.
- Avoid any skin treatments that can cause skin irritation or sensitivity, such as waxing or exfoliating, for at least one week after the treatment.
- Avoid swimming in chlorinated water or hot tubs for at least one week after the treatment.
- Use gentle, non-abrasive cleansers and moisturizers to avoid irritating the skin.
- Avoid applying any makeup or skincare products that contain alcohol, fragrances, or other harsh ingredients.
- Be patient and allow your skin to fully heal before expecting to see results.
Resuming Skin Care Products:
- Non-Actives: Can be resumed once peeling has subsided, usually day 6-7.
- Actives: Can be resumed once peeling has subsided and sensitivity has returned to normal, usually day 7-10.
Physical Activity / Exercise:
- Refrain from physical activity or exercise for 72-96 hours after peel application. Inducing excessive perspiration can lead to PIH (Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation) or blistering.
Scheduling the Next VI Peel:
- VI Peels should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks (for best results)
Additional Skincare Treatments:
- It is recommended to wait for a minimum of 2 weeks before any treatment that creates exfoliation of the skin. (Includes facials, extractions, waxing, and threading)
- Consult with your practitioner for other treatment options.
Most people experience a mild stinging or burning sensation during the treatment, but it should not be painful.
The recovery time depends on the type of peel and the depth of the treatment. Mild peels may have no downtime, while deeper peels may require a week or more of recovery time.
